Apple MainStage is a live performance rig — a host for audio plugins with a playable control surface. Pointed at a radio instead of a PA, it becomes a serious transmit audio chain: microphone in, then gate, compression, parametric EQ and limiting, configured for a specific microphone and a specific voice, and switchable between presets mid-conversation.
It is the least conventional module in the register and one of the most effective. Transmit audio is where a station sounds either professional or amateur, and a proper processing chain is worth more on a crowded band than a great deal of additional power.
